Hi Penny,
You don't know me but you had once linked to my wordpress blog. (I think it was on the Pet Food Re-call many months ago.)

Today I somehow managed to find your entry about Quade while surfing, and read how you have recently just lost him.

I remembered your Blogger username "Pensthots" and thought you may have been the same person from before, so upon investigating and finding your blog now open (You had it closed at one time, due to rude and nasty poster's comments) reading the entry and seeing the video/song "Rainbow Bridge" made me feel that I just had to write back to you. That song hit me hard as it made me absolutley sob with all my heart at the loss of my own dog.

You see, this past long weekend, I lost my Corgi/cross "Minnie" due to an unknown illness. (I couldn't get any vets in Terrace to see her to determine what the problem was or have them humanely put her to sleep - they said they weren't taking new patients or emergencies - and Rupert, unfortunately was just not an option open to us at that point or I would have rushed her there) At any rate, from Sunday night on, she quickly became unresponsive to keeping her hydrated anymore and filled with electrolytes. By Monday of the same weekend, she had a seizure and fell asleep for the last time. I lied by her side and bawled my eyes out knowing she was dying and I helplessly couldn't do a thing for her anymore. I wish Dr Elorza would have been here, he would have dropped everything, like he had many times before. He too will sorely be missed in this town as well.

My heart goes out to you as I understand how much Quade meant to you and your family and what he meant to you as family member. "Minnie" was like a child would be to others, as we don't have children.
I was heart-broken, hurt, angered and embittered by the lack of care available to us. The recent rebuttals by Terrace vets in the papers has only deepened our wounds, as they sound harsh and calloused. I'd like to make my own rebuttal, but telling my story once was enough and it wouldn't help anyone now.

I want to say that I'm thankful for the little ray of hope that your posting of that video did for me. To help me believe that my little "Bum Bum" is better off where she is now.

I'm so sorry for your own loss and I for one am glad that you chose to post about it. I find it comforting to know I am not alone in my grief.

Sincerely,
Sheila Piche
